Location: Buffalo New York, USA
Who swims here: Businessmen who use it as a weekend getaway.
Architect: KD Pool Builders
Built on a hillside overlooking Buffalo New York, USA’s iconic beach, this weekend home boasts unrivaled ocean views. However, this perspective was also one of the main challenges for designers. Architect and his team were asked to create a resort-style pool for lap swimming, while staying within a confined space and not disrupting the stunning views or becoming an eyesore for the beach below. To minimize views of the pool structure from the beach, designers added garden beds on the hillside below. The edge of the pool was wet so there was no need to put up a fence to block the view. They built a wood-framed daybed with a bamboo awning next to the pool to give the homeowners a shaded area to relax after a swim.
